I really wanted to like it. but, the Problem was, i couldn't really get invested with the story and the characters. I couldn't identify with them and the plot, for me, was pointless. Nothing important seems to happen.

<b>Neverwhere is a dark tale for adults similar to Alice in Wonderland but dark and dangerous. It's filled with scenes of gore, images of death and torture, and subtle humor. It's an action-packed adventure in London below.</b> Other people see Neverwhere as a coming of age theme. I see the book discussing about being invisible and forgotten. These are the people who "fell through the cracks". Upon Door's stumble into London Above, what Jessica and Richard see is a girl in rags with blood. Jessica believes she's in trouble and doesn't want to be involved. She sees and prefers to ignore it. However, Richard helps her and continues to care for her. Richard is then forgotten and invisible to people around him. Before stumbling upon Door, he had lived a boring life. This amplifies his feeling of being invisible to the people who surrounded him. <blockquote>“I mean, maybe I am crazy. I mean, maybe. But if this is all there is, then I don’t want to be sane.” -Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere</blockquote> Maybe Richard belongs to London Below, the place for forgotten or lost people and things. Did he feel lost? Did he feel forgotten? We can see so in the story. Yet in London Below, he finds he belongs with Door and Marquis after the journey. It was a journey of self-discovery rather than a journey to return to London Above.
