Rezension von KeksIch fand dieses Buch einfach Klasse. Die komplizierte Beziehung zwischen den Hauptcharakteren, die eigentlich gar nicht so kompliziert ist und die ganzen anderen Menschen um sie herum, sind mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass ich zum Schluss sehr mit Shara relaten konnte und auch mit Chloe, die einfach sie selbst sein wollen. Auf jeden Fall war dieses Buch ein kleines Abenteuer mit viel Freundschaft und Liebe. Wer auf etwas heiteres mit comedy und einer kleinen Prise religious trauma Lust hat, dann ist das Buch genau das Richtige für dich.
Rezension von feder_magieWelcome to False Beach! Einem konservativen Ort in Alabama, der es queeren Menschen wie Chloe nicht einfach macht. Aber keine Sorge! Chloe hat ein loses Mundwerk und steht voll und ganz zu sich selbst. Mit „I kissed Shara Wheeler“ steht euch eine spannende Schnitzeljagd bevor. Nicht nur nach Shara, die nach dem Abschlussball plötzlich verschwindet und das Dreiergespann Chloe, Smith und Rory auf den Plan ruft, die sich nie gesucht und dann irgendwie zwangsweise gefunden haben, sondern auch die Suche nach sich selbst. Das Buch ist im Bereich YA-Romance anzuordnen und ist mit viel Witz und Charme gespickt. Shara wirkt im ersten Moment eher unsympathisch, aber ihre Entwicklung und ihre Beweggründe sind wirklich berührend. Die Tiefe der Geschichte hat mir auch richtig gut gefallen und es gibt wirklich richtig viele queere Charaktere in diesem Buch. Kein Kitsch, nur ein bisschen Herzflattern und wundervolle Messages, die wirklich jeden erreichen können, egal wer wen liebt. Normalerweise sind Highschool Stories echt nicht mehr mein Ding, aber diese hier war einfach so zuckrig, dass sie mich vollkommen überzeugen konnte. Stilistisch war sie auch sehr gut ausgearbeitet und Neopronomen wurden perfekt eingesetzt. Besonders für junge LeserInnen erachte ich dieses Buch als wertvoll, denn es eröffnet wirklich tolle und wichtige Themen, die junge Erwachsene wirklich prägen können. Mein Fazit: Pädagogisch wertvoll, für jüngere und auch ältere LeserInnen.

If you are searching for a nerv thrilling mystery, that’s not it. But if you want a cozy queer story with jokes and good characters, you might like this.

Rezension von lilliAfter Red, White and Royal Blue, which was phenomenal and One Last Stop, which was just good I was very excited what Casey’s third book would be like. And I have to say, this was very good. The perfect summer read. It did tick all my boxes. Theater, Nerds, queer (obviously), found family, a mystery, little town.
