A must for lovers of classical literature. I swallowed the book and it is still one of my favorite novels.

Oh God, where do I stand with this book? While I was born in the states, I did not grow up there, so I don't really have the same sort of nostalgy like some of the other readers of this book. And while the book was well written and I also enjoyed it in a way, I can't give more than two stars because of the immense racism depicted in this book. I know it was written in the 30's, and it takes place in a other time, yada, yada, yada. But let's face it: The book is racist. The way the author writes about black people is disgusting. And so while I did enjoy the plot, thought it was well written and at times brilliant with such a dislikeable character like Scarlett, this book will never receive any more than two stars from me.
