For me, this is a masterpiece. It tackles many heavy topics such as classicism, racism, sexism and colonialism. Both MCs are being discriminated in the system in different ways but since they are both part of it, they are not safe from doing so themselves. By working together they see the faults of their system and how each of them suffers because of it. The book is written phenomenally but it's not an easy or light one.

"if you thought this had a happy ending you haven't been paying attention" - oder vielleicht einfach das richtige Ende für diese Story?

A book with an incredibly interesting and fascinating magic system and characters with so much depth. The societal criticism is wrapped up in a very well written story with many important themes like misogyny, racism and more. And the author found the perfect ending to the story.
