This book was so, so cruel. It made my heart flatter, then it broke it. It gave me hope, then recklessly crushed it. MADE ME SCREAM, CRY, THROW MYSELF ON THE BED - and because of the literature masochist that I am, I loved it. "Atonement" did not only write cinematic history (the scene in which Kiera Knightley comes out of the fountain or the green dress I mean WHAT DID WE DO to deserve this National treasure?!?!?) but genius Ian McEwan also literally wrote a book that will not only go down in history as one of his greatest achievements (and maybe even one of the best books of the decade) but he also managed to suck us into history. Now, WWII is always a delicate subject to write about, but the way he portrayed our young protagonists stories - broke my heart. Let's really really hope it will never come to this again. I will never forgive him for what he did to my heart, though. I will never forgive him for this tragic lovestory that I carry with me every day and just can't get rid of. It's a story that will stick to you and will break you heart all over again when you think about it. 10/10 will recommend if you want to suffer.

First I was like 'wow, so cool, questioning reality all day!!' Then I was like 'wow, so cool, letting the man who raped your cousin marry her, and thinking the only thing you can be condemned for is ruining your SISTER'S life, who couldn't sleep with her boyfriend. So sad'.
