Yasmin Shakarami was born in Munich in 1991 to a Hungarian mother and an Iranian father. In 2010, she spent a period abroad in Tokyo. She subsequently studied philosophy, specializing in ethics, in Munich and completed a master’s degree. She then founded a school for German language, literature, and philosophy in Vancouver. In 2021, she received the City of Munich’s literary grant. Her debut novel, “Tokioregen,” reached the Spiegel bestseller list and has been translated into several languages.
