Xavier-Laurent Petit was born in France in 1956. He studied philosophy and worked as a primary school teacher and headteacher before turning to writing. Petit wrote numerous books for children and young adults, several of which received awards. His book “Steppenwind und Alderflügel” received the Prix Saint-Exupéry in 2003 and was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in 2007.
