Wolfgang Popp, born in Vienna in 1970, studied Sinology and history in Vienna and China. He worked as a study-tour guide in the Far East and as a cultural editor for ORF Radio Ö1; he also made documentaries and published short stories. His novels include *Ich müsste lügen* (2013), *Die Verschwundenen* (2015), and *Wüste Welt*. The three books form his “Trilogy of Disappearance.” For *Die Verschwundenen*, Popp was shortlisted for the Literaturpreis Alpha and received a book grant from the City of Vienna.
