Wolfgang M. Heckl, born in 1958 in Parsberg, Germany, is a physicist. He earned his doctorate in biophysics at the Technical University of Munich and completed his habilitation in nanoscience at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich under Prof. Dr. Hänsch. From 2004, he served as Director General of the Deutsches Museum in Munich and headed the Oskar von Miller Chair for Science Communication at the Technical University of Munich. He received several awards for explaining scientific topics in an accessible way across television, radio, and print, including the Communicator Prize of the Stifterverband and the René Descartes Prize of the European Commission.
