Wolfgang Brenner (born 1954) studied German and philosophy. He worked as a journalist, writer, and filmmaker, publishing numerous crime novels as well as nonfiction. His journalistic work appeared in publications including Die Zeit, Stern, die taz, Der Tagesspiegel, Frankfurter Rundschau, and Süddeutsche Zeitung. In 2007 he received the Berlin crime fiction award “Krimifuchs,” followed in 2009 by the International Feature Prize of the Stiftung Radio Basel. His novels have been translated into several languages. His publications also include the nonfiction book “Zwischen Anfang und Ende. Nachkriegsjahre in Deutschland” (2016).
