William Peter Blatty

William Peter Blatty (1928–2017) was an American author, screenwriter, and director. He became internationally known for his 1971 novel The Exorcist, about a twelve-year-old girl possessed by a demon. Blatty also wrote the screenplay for the 1973 film adaptation, starring Linda Blair, and received an Academy Award for it. He was married and had seven children.
