William MacAskill

William MacAskill was born in Glasgow in 1987. He is a philosopher and has served as an associate professor at the University of Oxford and as a researcher at Oxford’s Global Priorities Institute. MacAskill is regarded as one of the leading thinkers of effective altruism and was a co-founder of Giving What We Can, 80,000 Hours, and the Centre for Effective Altruism. In 2017, Forbes included him in its 30 Under 30 list for social entrepreneurship; the World Economic Forum named him a Young Global Shaper. His book *What We Owe the Future* was published in 2022 and became a New York Times bestseller.
