William Kamkwamba

William Kamkwamba was born in Malawi in 1987. He gained international recognition with his bestseller The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. He studied environmental engineering at Dartmouth College in the United States and spoke at several TED conferences. The German-language edition of his book received the Corine – International Book Prize in 2010. A film adaptation directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor was released on Netflix in 2019 and submitted for the 2020 Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
