William Boyd

William Boyd was born in Accra, Ghana, in 1952 to Scottish parents and grew up in Ghana and Nigeria. He later attended school and university in the United Kingdom. In 1981 he published his first novel, A Good Man in Africa, which won the Whitbread Literary Award and the Somerset Maugham Award. Boyd writes novels, short stories, screenplays and nonfiction. His notable works include Brazzaville Beach, Restless and Any Human Heart. His books have been published internationally and translated into more than 30 languages.
