Wilhelm Schmid (born 1953 in Bavarian Swabia) is a German philosopher. He taught for many years as an adjunct professor at the University of Erfurt and worked as a visiting lecturer in Latvia and Georgia and as a philosophical chaplain at a hospital in Switzerland. In 2012 he received the German Meckatzer Philosophy Prize for his contribution to communicating philosophy, followed in 2013 by Switzerland’s Egnér Prize for his work on the art of living. His successful books include Glück (2007), Gelassenheit (2014), and Schaukeln (2023).
