Wilfried Graf, Dr. phil., studied sociology and education and worked as a peace and conflict researcher, consultant, and trainer in conflict regions and post-war societies, including Sri Lanka, Central Asia, and Israel/Palestine. From 1983 to 2005, he worked at the Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, followed by positions at the Institute for the Sociology of Law and Criminology in Vienna and the Centre for Peace Research and Peace Education at Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt. In 2005, he co-founded the Herbert C. Kelman Institute for Interactive Conflict Transformation in Vienna. His areas of focus include theories of conflict, violence, and peace, as well as interactive conflict transformation. In 2023, he received the State of Carinthia’s Medal of Honour for his contribution to resolving the bilingual place-name dispute.
