Walter Rodney

Walter Rodney was a Guyanese historian, intellectual, and activist in the anticolonial movement. He was involved in political movements in North America, Africa, and the Caribbean. His deportation from Jamaica triggered the 1968 unrest known as the Rodney riots. In 1979, he helped found the Working People’s Alliance in Guyana. Rodney was assassinated in 1980 at the age of 38.
