Walter Lippmann (1889–1974) was a journalist, writer, and media critic in the United States. Together with Herbert Croly, he founded the political magazine The New Republic. His book Public Opinion (1922), which examines stereotypes and stereotypical ideas, is regarded as a foundational text in media and political science as well as social psychology.
