Wallace D Wattles

Wallace D. Wattles (1860–1911) was an American writer, lecturer, and proponent of the New Thought movement. He received only a modest formal education and initially worked as a farm laborer. From the mid-1890s onward, he wrote articles and books on philosophy, personal development, and the so-called law of attraction. His intellectual influences included Descartes, Emerson, Hegel, Leibniz, Schopenhauer, Spinoza, and Swedenborg. His best-known work, The Science of Getting Rich (1910), became an influential text in New Thought literature. Wattles died in Tennessee in 1911.
