W. Bruce Cameron, born in 1960, worked as a columnist and author. His column about raising teenagers was published as a book in 1995 and served as the basis for the television series My Wild Daughters. His novel Ich gehöre zu dir became a bestseller in 2010; the stories about the dog Bailey were continued and adapted for film. In 2011, the National Society of Newspaper Columnists named him Columnist of the Year. His books about dogs were also shaped by memories of his first Labrador, which his father gave him when he was about eight years old.
