Vikram Chandra

Vikram Chandra was born in New Delhi in 1961. He studied at Pomona College, the film school of Columbia University, Hopkins University and the University of Houston. His short stories appeared in publications including The New Yorker and The Paris Review. His first novel, *Tanz der Götter*, was translated into twelve languages and adapted for film in India. The novel received the David Higham Prize for Best English First Novel and the Commonwealth Writers Award for Best First Novel. His story collection *Die fünf Seiten des Lebens* won the Best Book Award of The Commonwealth Writers Prize for the Eurasia Region in 1998.
