Vernor Vinge

Vernor Vinge (born in Wisconsin in 1944) was a science fiction author, mathematician, and computer scientist. He taught at San Diego State University in California. His novel *A Fire Upon the Deep* received the Hugo Award, and its sequel, *A Deepness in the Sky*, is also among his notable works.
