Verena Kiefer

Verena Kiefer was born in Saarbrücken in 1964. After training as a bookseller, she studied language and literary studies. From 1997 onward, she worked as a freelance translator from Dutch, translating children’s and young adult books as well as nonfiction into German. From 2010, she taught Dutch at the University of Siegen. Her work earned her three nominations for the German Youth Literature Prize. In 2021, she and author Wilma Geldof received the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Books.
