Uwe Volkmann

Born in 1960, Uwe Volkmann studied law in Marburg and completed his legal clerkship in Frankfurt am Main. He received his doctorate in 1992, worked as a lawyer in Frankfurt in 1994, and completed his habilitation in 1997. From 1999 to 2015, he was a professor at the University of Mainz. In 2015, he took up the chair of Public Law and Legal Philosophy at Goethe University Frankfurt. His academic work addresses constitutional and democratic theory, fundamental rights, the relationship between the individual and the community, and internal security law.
