Uwe Schirmer

Uwe Schirmer (born 1962) is a German historian. He received his doctorate from Dresden University of Technology in 1994 and completed his habilitation at Leipzig University in 2003. In 2009, he took up the professorship of Thuringian regional history at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. Schirmer is a full member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Leipzig. His research focuses on the constitutional, social, economic and everyday history of the Late Middle Ages and the sixteenth century, particularly in central Germany.
