Uwe Fleckner

Uwe Fleckner (born 1961 in Dortmund) studied art history, philosophy and German literature in Bochum and Hamburg. In 2004, he was appointed professor of art history at the University of Hamburg. He founded the university’s research center on “Degenerate Art” and served as one of the directors of the Warburg House. Fleckner has published numerous books and essays on “Degenerate Art,” modern art and political iconography. He was also co-editor of the collected works of Carl Einstein and Aby Warburg. His novel *Im Schatten der blauen Pferde* marked his debut as a novelist.
