Ute Krause (born 1960 in Berlin) studied visual communication in Berlin and film and television drama in Munich. She worked as an illustrator, author, screenwriter and director. Krause grew up in, among other places, Turkey, Nigeria, India and the United States. Her best-known children’s book series include “Minus Drei” and “Die Muskeltiere”; her picture books and children’s books have been translated into numerous languages and some have been adapted for television. Her work received, among other distinctions, an award from Stiftung Buchkunst, and she was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize. In 2016, she received the ver.di Literature Prize Berlin-Brandenburg for children’s and young adult literature.
