Ursula Le Guin

Ursula Le Guin was born Ursula Kroeber in Berkeley, California, in 1929. The American writer became known chiefly for her science fiction and fantasy. Her major works include the Hainish Cycle and the Earthsea series, which comprises five novels. Le Guin studied literature at Harvard University, focusing on the Italian and French Renaissance. From 1960 onward, she published short stories as well as novels and books for children and young adults. Her work received numerous awards, including the World Fantasy Award.
