Ulrike Lunacek, born in Krems in 1957, is an Austrian politician, interpreter and activist. Trained in English and Spanish, she has been active for many years in feminist, development-policy and LGBTIQ causes. From 1995 to 2020, she held various positions with the Austrian Greens, serving as the party’s federal managing director, a member of the Austrian National Council and a Member of the European Parliament. She was Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2017 and State Secretary for Art and Culture in 2020.
