Ulrich Herbert (born 1951) is a German historian. He was Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the University of Freiburg. His major publications include “Fremdarbeiter. Politik und Praxis des Ausländereinsatzes in der Kriegswirtschaft des Dritten Reiches,” “Geschichte der Ausländerpolitik in Deutschland,” and “Geschichte Deutschlands im 20. Jahrhundert.” In 1999, he received the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation for his scholarly work. “Geschichte Deutschlands im 20. Jahrhundert” received the Bavarian Book Prize in the nonfiction category in 2014.
