Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz (1915–1942) was a German-language writer. In 1935, he emigrated with his mother to Scandinavia, where his first novel, »Menschen neben dem Leben«, was published. Its success enabled him to study at the Sorbonne in Paris. During stays in Belgium and Luxembourg, he wrote his novel »Der Reisende«, published in England in 1939 and later in the United States and France. Interned in England as an “enemy alien,” Boschwitz was transferred to Australia. He was killed in 1942 when the ship carrying him back was torpedoed by a German submarine.
