Ulli Schubert was born in Hamburg in 1958. Before becoming an author of children’s and young adult books, he worked as a truck driver, dockworker, sleeping-car attendant, educator and sports reporter, among other jobs. He also wrote reviews of children’s and young adult books. In 1991, he began working as a freelance author of children’s and young adult books.
