Udo Tworuschka (born 1949 in Seesen in the Harz region) is a German scholar of religious studies. He studied comparative religion, Protestant theology, English studies, education and philosophy at the University of Bonn. After around 20 years of work in religious education at the Rhineland University of Education, Cologne department, and the University of Cologne, he held the chair of religious studies at the Faculty of Theology at Friedrich Schiller University Jena from 1993 until his retirement in 2011. His research focused on the history and fundamental questions of religious studies, religions in Germany, new religions, media conveying religious traditions and interfaith dialogue. He published numerous works from the 1970s onward.
