Tony Hillerman

Tony Hillerman (1925–2008) was a journalist, lecturer at the University of New Mexico, and author. After spending eight years at a boarding school for Native Americans, he served in the Second World War and later studied journalism. He became best known for his crime novels featuring Navajo police officers Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee. His work received numerous awards, including the Edgar Allan Poe Award, the Grandmaster Award, the Grand Prix de Littérature Policière, the Special Friend of the Diné Award, and the Agatha Award. His novels were translated into seventeen languages.
