Tiziano Terzani (1938–2004) was an Italian journalist and author. From 1972 to 1997, he worked as an Asia correspondent for the German magazine Der Spiegel, reporting from places including Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo and Bangkok. In 1975, he was one of the few Western reporters to remain in Saigon during the Communist takeover. After many years in Asia, he became increasingly engaged with meditation and Eastern philosophy. His final book, “The End Is My Beginning: A Son and a Father at the End of Their Journey,” was published posthumously in 2007.
