Timur Vermes

Timur Vermes was born in Nuremberg in 1967 to a German mother and a Hungarian father. He studied history and politics in Erlangen before working as a journalist and ghostwriter. Until 2001, he wrote for the newspapers Abendzeitung and Kölner Express, and later for several magazines. He became widely known for his 2012 debut novel, Look Who’s Back, which ranks among the most successful German debut novels of recent decades. His second novel, The Hungry and the Fat, was published in 2018 and reached the top of the bestseller charts. Vermes has also had a longstanding interest in comics.
