Tim Parks was born in Manchester and grew up in London. He studied at Cambridge and Harvard and has lived in Italy since 1981. Parks writes novels, nonfiction and essays, for which he has received numerous awards. He taught literary translation at the University of Milan, wrote for publications including The Guardian, The New Yorker and The New York Review of Books, and translated works by authors such as Moravia, Calvino, Calasso, Tabucchi and Machiavelli. His notable books include Thomas & Mary and Die Kunst stillzusitzen.
