Tim Blanning

Tim Blanning was Professor of Modern European History at the University of Cambridge until his retirement in 2009. He was a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and of the British Academy. His research focused on the political and cultural history of Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. His works include “The Culture of Power and the Power of Culture” and “The Pursuit of Glory: Europe 1648–1815.” His biography “Frederick the Great” (2018) received, among other distinctions, the British Academy Medal.
