Thomas Zippert

Thomas Zippert (born 1961) studied Protestant theology and earned a doctorate in theology. From 2002 to 2010, he directed the Hephata Academy for Social Professions in Schwalmstadt. He was then Professor of Diaconal Studies at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences for Diaconia in Bielefeld from 2011 to 2019. From 2004 to 2019, he chaired the national conference of directors of deacon-training programs. His areas of expertise include diaconal theology and history, the office and profession of deacons, emergency pastoral care, social space and participation, and interreligious dialogue.
