Thomas Wizany

Thomas Wizany (born 1967) is known as a caricaturist and architect. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the master class of Gustav Peichl and subsequently spent periods studying in Dijon and Siena. From 1987 onward, he drew for the Salzburger Nachrichten; his caricatures also appeared in other media. His caricature collections include Der Durchblick: Karikaturen 1994–2004 and Strichcodes: Karikaturen 2005–2010. As an exhibition designer, he contributed to the redesign of Mozart’s Birthplace, the Mozarthaus in St. Gilgen, and the St. Peter Museum in Salzburg’s DomQuartier. In 2007 he received the René-Marcic Prize, followed by the Austrian Nature Conservation Prize in 2011.
