Thomas Thiemeyer (born in 1963) studied geology and geography and began his career as an illustrator before increasingly turning to writing. His debut novel, *Medusa*, was published in 2004, followed in 2009 by *Die Stadt der Regenfresser*, his first book for young readers. He writes science thrillers and young adult series, which have received several awards, been translated into thirteen languages, and sold widely. His novels follow the tradition of classic adventure fiction and often explore the discovery of sunken cultures and threats posed by mysterious forces.
