Thomas Seifert (born 1968 in Ried im Innkreis) studied biology and worked as a journalist and author. He served as deputy editor-in-chief and head of foreign affairs at the Wiener Zeitung and wrote for publications including Stern, brand eins, Welt am Sonntag and Facts. As a reporter, he covered countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Russia, India and China. His books include Schwarzbuch Öl (2005, co-written with Klaus Werner), Schwarzbuch Gold (2011, co-written with Brigitte Reisenberger) and Die Pazifische Epoche (2015).
