Thomas Lang, born in 1967 in Nümbrecht, North Rhine-Westphalia, is a German writer, journalist, and essayist. His debut novel, “Than,” was published in 2002 and received the Bavarian State Literary Promotion Prize and the Marburg Literature Prize. In 2005, Lang was awarded the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize for an excerpt from his novel “Am Seil,” which was also nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize. His other works include the Künstlerroman “Immer nach Hause,” about the young Hermann Hesse, and the novel “Freinacht.” Lang has also held fellowships in Canada, Italy, the United States, and Switzerland.
