Born in 1969, Thomas Kaul studied business information systems at Nordakademie in Elmshorn from 1993 to 1997, graduating as a Diplom-Wirtschaftsinformatiker (FH). From 2008 to 2014, he additionally studied psychology at the FernUniversität in Hagen, completing the program with a Bachelor of Science. His academic career includes a professorship at the University of Cologne in special education and rehabilitation, focusing on the pedagogy and didactics of deaf and hard-of-hearing people, as well as sign language and its didactics.
