Tess Gerritsen

Tess Gerritsen, born in 1953 in San Diego, California, studied medicine at the University of California and worked as a physician for several years before becoming a novelist. Her international breakthrough came with the thriller The Surgeon, which introduced Detective Jane Rizzoli. She is best known for the series featuring Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles, which inspired the television series Rizzoli & Isles. Gerritsen has also written standalone thrillers, often combining suspenseful plots with detailed medical knowledge.
