Ted Gioia

Ted Gioia, born in 1957, studied at the University of Oxford and Stanford University. He was a jazz pianist and music scholar and co-founded Stanford’s jazz studies program. Gioia wrote ten books, including “The History of Jazz” and “The Jazz Standards.” He received the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award several times and was nominated for the JJA Jazz Journalism Award in 2016.
