Tadeusz Pankiewicz

Tadeusz Pankiewicz was a Polish pharmacist, a graduate of Jagiellonian University, and the owner of Kraków’s Pod Orłem (Under the Eagle) Pharmacy. During the German occupation, the pharmacy was located within the Kraków ghetto. Pankiewicz worked to keep it operating there and helped Jewish people. In 1983, he was recognized as a Righteous Among the Nations for his efforts. He described his experiences in the memoir Apteka w getcie krakowskim (The Pharmacy in the Kraków Ghetto), first published in 1947.
