Sylvia Mechsner

Prof. Dr. med. Sylvia Mechsner studied human medicine at the Free University of Berlin and earned her doctorate at the Institute of Biochemistry in 2001. She worked at the Department of Gynecology at Charité, including as a senior physician at the Virchow-Klinikum campus. In 2005, she took over the direction of Charité’s endometriosis research laboratory. She completed her habilitation in 2010 with a thesis on the pathogenesis and pain mechanisms of endometriosis. From 2014, she headed Charité’s Endometriosis Center; in 2019, she was appointed professor of endometriosis research. Her academic work includes research projects and clinical studies on endometriosis.
