Susanne Mischke, born in 1960 in Kempten in the Allgäu region, studied business administration. After working in the computer industry and as a journalist, she became a freelance writer. She published her first novel, the satire »Stadtluft«, in 1994; her first crime novel, »Mordskind«, followed in 1996. Her best-known works also include »Die Eisheilige« and the Hannover crime series featuring Inspector Bodo Völxen. In addition to crime novels, she wrote young adult books, short stories, radio plays and screenplays, including scripts for »Alarm für Cobra 11«. She received the Agathe, the City of Wiesbaden’s women’s crime fiction prize, for »Wer nicht hören will, muß fühlen«. »Mordskind« and »Die Eisheilige« were adapted for television by ZDF.
