Susan Blackmore

Susan Blackmore, born in 1951, studied psychology and physiology at Oxford and earned a doctorate in parapsychology from the University of Surrey. She worked as a freelance writer and presenter, including for the BBC, and taught at the University of Bristol. Blackmore published influential work on theories of consciousness and evolution. Her book *The Meme Machine* (German: *Die Macht der Meme*) is regarded as a standard work on cultural evolution and has been translated into eleven languages.
